Weekly Market Comment – February 11th
After rallying for five straight weeks and producing their best start to a calendar year sine 1987, equity markets paused for breath last week, finishing broadly flat. The rally in equity markets has seen them recover the losses they experienced during December. It is unlikely that the market will continue the same pace of recovery as it digests the facts that the global economy is slowing down and the fact that the tightening bias of central bankers has been forced to change. The trade war continues to over-hang markets and there may be some movement on this in the coming week as a US delegation travels to Beijing for talks.
